Danny Havoc

Updated: 3 days ago

Grant Amos Berkland — known to wrestling fans as Danny Havoc — was born in Iowa, USA. As a kid, he spent his after‑school hours wrestling with friends until he was finally old enough to try out for the CZW Wrestling Academy.

He made his Combat Zone Wrestling debut at Tournament of Death 4 on July 30th, 2005, competing in a student battle royal. A few months later, he made his singles debut and quickly became one of CZW’s most creative and beloved ultraviolent wrestlers.

Danny went on to win multiple championships in CZW, including the Tag Team, Junior Heavyweight, and Ultraviolent Underground titles. He also became a two‑time winner of the Tournament of Death, cementing his place as one of the promotion’s most innovative deathmatch performers.

Beyond CZW, Danny wrestled for promotions such as IWA Mid‑South, AIW, VOW, and many others. His career also took him overseas, competing in Germany for wXw, in Japan for Big Japan Pro Wrestling and DDT, and in Mexico for Desastre Total Ultraviolento, among other international promotions.

Danny retired in 2017, wrestling his final CZW match against Alex Colon at Down With The Sickness, the same event where he had debuted 12 years earlier.

After retiring, he became part of H2O Wrestling, serving in an authority‑figure role. He returned to the ring in 2019 for a benefit show for fellow wrestler G‑Raver, and went on to have five more matches for GCW and FREEDOMS in Japan.

EDITOR'S NOTE:

Grant was amazing. We emailed each other all the time — I helped him with video editing, threw him stupid ideas for matches, and in return he’d send me T‑shirts, DVDs, that kind of thing. He was always generous, always kind.

It was heartbreaking how both his and his wife’s lives ended.
